Your Bachelor Degree Completion Offers Opportunities

Michelle Conner | November 19, 2011

The astounding number of jobs lost due to the recession is a tough pill to swallow for many people who are a ways down the career path. Recent college grads are walking into an uncertain job market, regardless of their training – teachers, lawyers, and even firefighters are seeing positions get eliminated left and right. Mid and experienced career level individuals are watching jobs in their fields go overseas, or go away entirely by no fault of their own. This is why college-bound students might be a little lucky at this point, if they’re savvy enough to recognize good timing. They have a decent chance of getting a head-start in a more realistic field that won’t go away by the time they enter the workforce. It may be a wise idea to research more into Bachelor degree completion sources to help you pick a career path that offers more stability and a higher salary that is equal to the investment you put in.

Someone early in his or her college career may be inclined to have an exaggerated idea of what he or she can do with a given Bachelor’s degree. Someone pursuing dance may see a long career ahead and may indeed be extremely talented, but the reality is, it’s best to fortify that passion with some more marketable skills and experience. The same goes for someone who is an aspiring doctor, who might not to be able to afford all that schooling or wants to get out into the workforce as quickly as possible.

Such is the case for aspiring lawyers. Many have heard that there are more people in law school than there are practicing lawyers – not the most encouraging thought. There’s also the fact that law school is exceedingly expensive, and financial aid isn’t as easily available as it is for undergraduates. Then there’s the L-SAT and the bar exam. A lot of people see studying to be a paralegal to be a sensible alternative. Paralegals provide essential expertise and support for lawyers, and becoming one isn’t too hard. You just need an Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or, if you have a Bachelor’s in something else, you can earn a certificate in paralegal studies. Find more online Bachelor degree program resources to help you decide an alternate career path that will still let you work your way up to your desired field.

Perhaps you wanted to be a doctor all your young life, only to realize the extremely high financial costs and many years of your life that medical school would require. If you’re eager to get out into the workforce sooner and at less of a cost, think about nursing school. You generally need an Associate’s or Bachelor’s for such a program, and the market, while it fluctuates like any other, will always have demand. You can also take your career one step further by becoming a nurse practitioner, which is also a sought-after position.

Another childhood fantasy that has more realistic parallels is that of being an astronaut. With government cuts to a program that was already tough to get into, it may be wise to look at alternatives. Aviation makes sense! Those interested in working on rocket ships can channel their enthusiasm into aviation and become airplane mechanics. Those who want to be up in the sky, on the other hand, can look into programs that will train them to be pilots.

The recession has seen some of the more creative vocations take a hit. Aspiring fiction writers, who already faced a tough crowd before the recession, now have a whole set of hurdles to deal with. They can, however, market their talents as technical writers, journalists, public relations professionals, and copywriters. Those talented as visual artists can see if graphic design is something they’d be willing and able to do.

Aspiring musicians might also want to check out what kind of avenues they can take. Those who are already receiving formal training at the university level can combine what they’ve learned with education training. That way, those who love music composition and history can hedge their bets when the market is tough.

Aspiring athletes might want to look into a program that will let them put their passions to use if professional sports don’t work out. For example, he or she can study physical therapy, sports medicine, or sports management. Enrolling in accredited online universities will allow you to learn at your own pace. Find the degree that fits your career goals at EarnMyDegree.com.

Michelle Conner | November 7, 2011

Not only do these courses tender much awareness about meticulous themes, they also give individuals interactive quizzes. These quizzes make sure that the student comprehends the material at a higher level. Although these quizzes are not graded, they are very helpful to the learner, because they identify strong and weak points within the individual. Considering the impact of free online college courses on your goals may be key to your success.

Cons to free courses – There are some negative aspects with taking free classes on the computer. Topics presented may be very broad and not specific. There can be some additional funds required for textbooks or class materials. Maybe an option to consider is paying for the classes through the university’s registrar department.

Taking a single class will not guarantee full and complete awareness of the topic at hand, but will increase the information within the individual. Students who are serious about taking free classes should reach out to their community college and see what they offer. Learn What Motivates Us With Your Psychology Degree

Michelle Conner | September 6, 2011

If you are considering a career in the field of psychology, you have several options. You may opt for working in research and conducting experiments or choose to work directly with patients, helping them recover from psychological disorders. In an Intro to Psychology course, you will learn about psychological and about physiological psychology and will get a better idea of where in this field you would prefer working.

Psychology courses cover the history of psychology, and students learn about the areas in which psychologists feel are the most essential in the study of human behavior. In a psychology class, students learn about the brain and human body, including its parts and mechanisms, and about human behavior. They learn the ways in which each part works together to determine our behavior. Keeping in mind how online schools can speed your success is a good idea.

Knowing how the brain and our nervous system’s function is part of what students will learn in psychology courses. They will also understand what role heredity plays in those functions. The courses also cover how we feel and see the world, using all five of our senses.

Other areas covered in the courses deal with our perception, memory, awareness, and conditioning and learning. Students will learn which areas of the brain enable us to be aware of our surroundings and how outside influences affect learning and condition us in certain ways. They will also understand what part of the brain is responsible for holding our memories, and how the brain stores those memories. Other general areas covered in an Intro to Psychology course are human language and thought processes and intelligence.

One particular interesting phase of a psychology class is studying the basis of motivation in both animals and humans. Some are physiologically motivated and some are psychologically. Physiological motivations include aggression, regulating body temperature, thirst, hunger, parenting, sexual drive, and the need to reproduce.

Introduction to Psychology courses reveal how human emotions play a large role in our motivations. Primary motivations are those that our bodies need to survive – water, air, and food. Secondary motivations stem from our learning experiences and through condition. Students will understand the difference between the two. One example of a secondary motivation in humans is the importance of money. You may want to check the internet for more details about scholarship.

We do not start out as infants or small children with the need for money. As we age, we learn that we need money to buy the things we need to survive, like food, clothing, and shelter. Another form of conditioning associated with money has to do with those who grew up in wealthy families where the children never worried about needing or wanting anything. These children may grow up with no motivation to earn what they need or want. With no basis for motivation, some could experience problems in adulthood when they discover that their needs go unmet without any motivation on their part.

Similar to that example, there are many other examples that students may explore. After completing an accredited degree course in psychology, students can choose to study examples of human behavior in the form of research. You should always research the possibility of qualifying for scholarships to help with tuition fees.

Don’t Rush Your College Experience When It Comes To Grants And Scholarship Applications

Michelle Conner | July 28, 2011

It’s true that high school students sometimes seem to wait until the last minute to complete important chores. There are always other activities that capture their attention, like proms or parties or camp-outs. But waiting until the last minute to research student loans and grants materials and complete their college financial aid packages can be a big mistake. They might discover that being in a hurry leaves them flustered when they are trying to fill out these critical forms.

The nature of financial aid applications is a detailed format full of information that must be correct. Being in a hurry to complete the forms on time may lead to inaccuracies in the information submitted. Even a tiny error or a simple mistake could end up causing a student to lose thousands of dollars worth of financial aid. If a student makes a mistake filling out the application that causes them to be rejected for financial aid, they may have to wait to enroll until the next semester, or even the next year.

There are different formats for different financial aid applications. Most can be filled out online, or if a student doesn’t have access to a computer, they can fill it out in paper and mail it in. Getting all of the information together before you start the sometimes lengthy process will help you to stay organized. Check with the financial aid office of your school or the government agency that is funding the aid before you start to see what you will need. If a student is going to submit a Free Application for Student Financial Aid (FAFSA) they will need the appropriate tax information on hand before they begin.

Some financial aid applications require so much information that they might seem confusing to students. The last thing a student needs to do is worry whether or not they filled out the form correctly. That’s why it’s a good idea to have an adult help complete a student’s applications. Parents or school counselors are a good source of help.

The financial aid office of a student’s future college can also help guide students when they are completing their applications for student aid. They are there to help prospective and current students receive all of the aid that may be available. If a student takes the time to develop a relationship with people in the financial aid office, they may be able to help find aid packages that students may not have been aware of. This is also when good college grants information will get you going down the right path.

In fact, if your financial situation unexpectedly changes, relationships with people in the financial aid office may be very helpful. Even though aid is generally based on a family’s yearly tax returns, other conditions may change your financial situation. Knowing people in the financial aid office might prevent you from dropping out further down the road if you run out of money or have some other kind of financial emergency. They may be able to steer you in the right direction.

The fact that financial aid is available to students who need the help is a great benefit to our society. Yet, students who desperately need the aid are turned down every year because they did not fill out their applications properly. This is a great reason to take as much time as possible before hand to fill the forms out completely, making sure that there is ample time to check and re-check for mistakes.

Students are full of anticipation when they are getting ready to start programs for their on-campus and online degrees. There is a lot to be done in a short amount of time. Students should take care not to let an overly full schedule hinder their chances for financial aid, including Pell Grants. Work to get that application in early!

Southern Cal Trojans – Pete Carroll’s USC Years

Freddie Brister | July 6, 2010

Since 1888, the University of Southern California (USC) ad fielded a college football team. From the beginning of the program, they have been a winning program that regularly dominated their Pac-10 Conference opponents. In addition to many conference titles, the team has also won 11 national crowns, competed for many others, and remained one of the most consistently high-ranked teams in the modern game. The last decade has been one of their best, as they have established a home in the upper echelon of the AP and BCS polls, while appearing in the top 10 of every other poll. It is worth noting that at least part of that decade of success occurred during the years in which Pete Carroll was coaching the Trojans.

The selection

Oddly enough – given Carroll’s eventual success with the team, there were few people cheering his selection when he was first hired. Much of the disapproval stemmed from the fact that he had spent the better part of the last decade coaching in the NFL, and there were detractors who felt that the adjustment to the college game would prove too much for the man. In fact, the USC coaching selection process involved several unsuccessful attempts to recruit three other coaches first – from Oregon State, Oregon, and the San Diego Chargers. For various reasons, none of the three initial choices accepted the job, leaving Carroll as the best available option. Carroll helped his cause by pursuing the post with vigor, in part due to the fact that his daughter was already attending the University. What makes the selection process even more inexplicable is the fact that the University had, just three short years before, tried unsuccessfully to lure Carroll away from the New England Patriots.

A bumpy start

In the beginning of Carroll’s time at USC it appeared as though he and the team were providing his critics more than their fair share of ammunition. The 2001 campaign began about as badly as it could have, with the Trojans limping out to a 2 win and 5-loss beginning to the season. Immediately, the sports media began calling Carroll’s hiring a mistake, declaring that the mighty Trojans were now doomed to fade even farther into mediocrity.

Instead, Carroll’s system began to see the results he knew it would, and the USC Trojans roared back to life. In the process, they amassed a record of 67 victories with only 7 defeats, while winning a pair of national titles and once again cementing USC’s position as a dominant football program. His teams also managed to win every Pac-10 conference championship title between 2003 and 2008.

Within a few short seasons of his hiring, of course, the media consensus had changed its tune, and now held that he had not been a mistake at all, but had rather been one of the best hires in college football history.

Top 4 Video Games To Rock Your College Life

Megan Plumber | May 16, 2010

If there is one aspect of college you probably will not miss out on then that is video games. It might never have been your thing to play video games but you are bound to be invited sooner or later. This article lists the top 4 video games played by college students. If you want to be a champion then you should get practicing as soon as possible.

The most exciting game ever to have ever been played in college is a game called Super Smash Brothers. This game is available on both the Nintendo 64 and Nintendo Wii. If you cannot afford to purchase the Nintendo Wii then purchase a secondhand Nintendo 64 instead. The two versions are not that difference. The Wii version just has newer characters and maps. In this game, you basically fight three other players on a platform and whoever is the last one to stay alive wins. You can select characters like Kirby and Captain Falcon.

Another popular game in college is FIFA. Soccer may not be a popular sport in the United States but FIFA is one of the best games to have come out of EA sports. Games like Madden still has too many flaws in order to play smoothly. In FIFA, you can pretty much select any team which exists in the world today. You can also select national teams and play for national pride against your college friends.

Another popular game in college is DOTA. This game is part Warcraft: The Frozen Throne. DOTA stands for Death of The Ancients and it has been developed by a person known as ‘Ice Frog’. In this game, your aim is to destroy the enemy buildings before they do. It is quite hard to understand first. You are also under great pressure because most DOTA players hate beginners. It is complex but you will get hooked up in a matter of weeks.

If you like first person shooter games then you definitely have to hit up games like Call of Duty and Battlefield. These are extremely realistic shooting games with great missions and maps.

What Are The Various Type Of Grants Accessible By College?

John Goldman | March 18, 2010

It is a hard fact but correct particularly in existing age, the standard expenses per academic year for even 4 year degree course turns to almost well beyond $20,000. Simple children of rich and gentry group can stake their claim over education with numbers being relatively less.

Here comes role of grants in life of students especially for those who like their rich counterparts just try to search light in the darkness. So college grants are most imperative in a life of student as it makes financially weak students too to garner their individualistic trait through expenses of college education.

These grants exactly different from student loans and scholarships in the procedure that like student loans, they don’t have to be payback, and are particularly want based as compared to scholarships, which are generally based on merit. Federal government made these grants making them come into 4 sections: Student-specific, Subject-specific, Degree Level and Minority.

If you would like to attain the grant, it is suggested you begin your search from the category student-specific or subject-specific grants. The federal government, in fact, is offering more grants to college students than before and No Child Left Behind Act has been the main catalyst behind this endeavor of government.

Such measures incline primary and secondary schools with duty to give education to every student rightly deserved without any bias. Such an effort would result in higher number of students completing their diplomas.

When students have right guidance in the form of financial and social resources and educator’s know -how and experience then they have a better opportunity of attending college and selecting the right academic and career options.

Federal scholarship projects have boosted hundreds of thousands of children to accomplish their dreams of getting higher education. One such major federal grant is the Pell Grant, which has financed millions of low-income children. Since its establishment in 1972, it has remained as one of the largely beneficial means of funding monetary worried learner children.

One more scholarship is the Academic Competitiveness Grant, applicable to scholar freshman and sophomores who have brilliant academic records and have demonstrated disposition for leadership and service, and applicants suitable for this grant must be also suitable for Pell Grant.

Yet an extra federal grant is The National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant, generally acknowledged as National SMART Grant, which grants $4000 to scholar juniors or seniors who have selected to study science, mathematics, engineering, or computer science. For this scholarship, children have to be qualifying for Pell Grant and this scholarship is in addition to the Pell Grant received by the undergraduate.

States also give many grants programs to the children of their states based on criteria such as merit, need or field of study.
